How to Upload your Resume Into the Opportunities DB

How to Upload My Resume After I Registered

The Opportunities Database is a great tool for you in your career planning and development process. However, to get all of the benefits of the system, you should complete the registration process and upload a resume. This document will give you all the steps necessary to complete this process.

Why should I upload a resume?

Without a resume in the system, you will only have access to view Part-Time and On Campus jobs and view the Career Events happening on campus. If you have a resume in the system, then you will have access to not only part-time and on campus jobs, but you can also view full-time, internship, cooperative education positions and other opportunities. More importantly, your resume will be included in employer searches for potential applicants. They can’t look at your resume if a resume doesn’t exist in the database.

So what is the process?

The steps are very simple:

  1. Create a resume. There are sample resumes on the My Major Page for your Major or on the Samples page on the Career Development website – www.career.uno.edu.
  2. Login to the Opportunities Database from your Major Page on www.career.uno.edu
  3. Roll your mouse over the My Account menu option and then click My Documents
  4. Click the [Upload File] option under the Resumes heading of Employment Related Categories
  5. You resume must be a Word formatted resume (Mac or PC).
  6. Name your resume. We suggest you use this format: Full Name (Date Resume was created) e.g. Homer Simpson (May 20, 2006).
  7. Click the Browse button to locate your resume on your computer, USB drive, I-Drive or similar.
  8. Once you have successfully uploaded your resume, you will need to let Career Development know that you have done so in order for us to look at the resume and give you feedback:

Email Dr. Adrienne Mustiful (amustifu@uno.edu) if your major is within:
Business, Education, Liberal Arts, Sciences, General Studies

Email Dr. Leonard A. Williams (leonard.williams@uno.edu) if you major is within:
Engineering

If you have uploaded a resume into the system, then you will receive an email within 48 hours regarding the status of your resume:

Minor - Make changes to resume and upload new copy. Your account will be fully active.
Major - Make changes to resume and reload for additional review. Your account will be active once your resume is checked again.
Schedule Appointment - You will be asked to schedule an appointment with a Career Development staff member before activation

Once you have full access to the system, you will also receive regular communication from the Office of Career Development regarding career events related to your major and job opportunities that may interest you.
