Job Search Assistance

Introduction
The UNO Counseling and Career Center Part-Time Jobs Database lists part-time positions on and off campus. The Counseling and Career Center encourages departments at UNO to post available positions in the database and refers students to the site when they are seeking on-campus employment. The listings include job descriptions and information about applying for the position. Please keep in mind, however, that not all on-campus jobs are posted in the Part-Time Jobs Database. You may also want to contact some of the larger departments on campus that hire many student workers---e.g., ARAMARK (campus dining), the Children's Center, the Lakefront Arena, Recreation & Intramural Sports, and University Computing and Communications.

FreshFest Part-Time/On-Campus Job Fair
The FreshFest Part-Time/On-Campus Job Fair is held every year at the beginning of the fall semester and is usually associated with Welcome Week. FreshFest is a great opportunity for part-time job seekers and employers (including UNO departments) to meet and explore employment opportunities. This event is casual and usually held outside, so job-seekers and employers are encouraged to dress casually and comfortably. Please visit our FreshFest page for additional information.

What's the best time to look for an on-campus job?
Most on campus jobs are available at the beginning of each semester. It's best to start looking right before classes start. Each fall the UNO Counseling and Career Center sponsors an on-campus job fair as part of FreshFest during the first week of school. A smaller number of on-campus jobs is available in January.

How much money should I expect to make in an on-campus job?
Most on campus jobs pay minimum wage to start. Some departments have higher-paying positions available and many departments offer raises to student workers who are re-hired for subsequent semesters.

How many hours may I work in an on-campus job?
Student workers may typically work no more than 20 hours per week.

How do I find a work-study job?
Contact the Office of Student Financial Aid for information about college work study.

Full-Time Employment
The UNO Counseling and Career center posts full-time jobs in the Opportunities Database. Access to these postings is available to UNO students and alumni who are fully-registered in the Opportunitie Database. Full registration requires uploading a résumé. Please visit our Registration page for additional information.
